Eating too quickly will not help you lose weight, quite the opposite in fact! If you want to lose weight, you'll have to take your time when eating your meals! By putting your cutlery down between mouthfuls, you can chew for longer and promote the rapid initiation of the digestion process. You'll also appreciate the flavours of your meals more and actually take the time to enjoy the meal with your nearest and dearest! By chewing your food properly, the pieces of food you swallow will be small and can be more easily assimilated into the digestion process. So your brain will quickly receive the message that your stomach is full and that It's no longer necessary to continue eating. On the other hand, if you eat too quickly and don't chew the food enough you risk consuming too much and you won't appreciate the flavour of your food. If the pieces of food you swallow are larger, digestion will be more difficult and therefore longer. Meanwhile, your brain won't receive a message of "fullness" and so you'll continue to eat in order to calm your hunger. So... putting down your cutlery between two mouthfuls is a good habit to get into if you want to lose pounds.
